Hello club members,
First, a service opportunity that can fulfill the Biology Club service requirement (one service event per semester):.Baileywick Elementary School is looking for students who would be interested in volunteering a couple hours of their time to talk to Kindergarteners through 5th graders about their science projects at their Science Expo. The Baileywick Science Expo is not set up as a competition. The evaluators give the young scientists an opportunity to talk about what they learned. The Science Expo is on Thursday March 14th from 5:45 to 8:00 pm, and Baileywick Elementary is located at 9425 Baileywick Road, Raleigh, NC 27615 (near Creedmore Rd. and Hwy 540). If you are interested, please see the attached flyer after this post for more information and contact Mary Roach, the Baileywick Science Expo Evaluator Coordinator, at mebroach12@gmail.com.
Additionally, some of you may be interested in attending a seminar tomorrow. The Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS) at the North Carolina State University will be hosting a seminar on March 11th from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm at 1216 Jordan Addition. Ken Lacovara, Ph.D, Associate Professor for the Department of Biology at Drexel University, will be speaking about "Giants at the End of the World: Recent Dinosaur Discoveries from Southernmost Patagonia, Argentina." Please see the abstract at the end of this post for more information.
Best,
