Hello club members,

I hope you all had a great break and that your spring semester is off to a good start!  The Biology Club's first meeting is this upcoming Monday on January 14.  As usual, the presentation will be at 5:30 pm in 102 David Clark Labs.  Dr. Holly Menninger, the Director of Public Science at Your Wild Life (www.yourwildlife.org), will talk about her job as a science communicator, as well as some of the cool projects underway at Your Wild Life (including her favorite: the Camel Cricket Project).  Come see how Your Wild Life tackles the challenge of not only making science approachable by the public, but also involving the average citizen in research.  Through their research, they explore the biodiversity living in us, on us, and around us, from the microbes living on the surface of our skin to the critters living in our backyards and neighborhoods.

This semester we'll be returning to our usual Monday meetings.  We hope to soon have our full calendar online, but until then, you can mark of the dates of the next two meetings:
  • On January 28, we'll hear about the work of a pediatric neurologist
  • On February 11, we'll host a special Valentine-themed presentation by Dr. Lisa A. McGraw on the biology of love and sex
As always, you can also keep up-to-date on our events by liking our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ncsubiologyclub.  If you were unable to join the club last semester but are interested in being an active member, feel free to drop in on one of our upcoming meetings.
See you on Monday!
Best,
Gabrielle Schroeder
